Chocolate Souffles

I love chocolate souffles, but have never been able to successfully bake them (ie, mine aren't that fluffy). I bought a new baking book: The Art of French Baking and I have been trying the recipes. Tonight, I tried the recipe for chocolate souffles and while they didn't rise to astronomical heights, they did fluff and tasted delicious.

Shades of Gray

Although my time down in the sunny south has been full of sun and bright colors, my comfort zone will always be the blacks and grays. This easy, comfortable look made me feel sassy and sexy in just a t-shirt and jeans.

Bright Lights, Big City

I have finally arrived in Miami for a much needed vacation and have pulled from my closet some of my more colorful pieces to fit the occasion.

Nautical Themed

I love all things nautical. This look pulls together some of the nautical touches in my closet (and helps me forget about the cold I'm fighting and brighten up the day).

Wrapped up in New York

On one of my Saturday explorations, I came across this scarf at Kate Spade and I've been adding it to all kinds of outfits to spice them up! Even just hanging out in the park in some men's jeans and a t-shirt, it makes the outfit.

Date Day

We have been making a habit of turning our Saturdays into a "date day". We choose new places and spaces to explore and sample. This Saturday, we began our day at the quaint little breakfast place: Clinton Street Baking Co. After an hour in line, we enjoyed some spectacular banana walnut french toast and blueberry pancakes.

In an attempt to work off the enormous breakfast, we began to slowly wander uptown and quickly found ourselves meandering Soho. While strolling down a familiar street, I came across a new storefront. Jumping with joy, I sprinted across the street and into the newly opened Georgetown Cupcakes. No longer would I have to take the nearly 4 hour train ride to DC to enjoy these delicious cupcakes (YAY!).

After a long day of walking, and a pretty extensive nap, we then made our way down to Chelsea to try out Cookshop, a simple dinner place with a very homey feel. Here they found ways to incorporate surprising ingredients and touches to very familiar dishes. As my main course, I tried the fish & chips, which was unexpectedly light and fresh for fried food. A welcome change.

As a whole we made some delicious discoveries and I can't wait for another weekend of adventures...
