We have been making a habit of turning our Saturdays into a "date day". We choose new places and spaces to explore and sample. This Saturday, we began our day at the quaint little breakfast place: Clinton Street Baking Co. After an hour in line, we enjoyed some spectacular banana walnut french toast and blueberry pancakes.
In an attempt to work off the enormous breakfast, we began to slowly wander uptown and quickly found ourselves meandering Soho. While strolling down a familiar street, I came across a new storefront. Jumping with joy, I sprinted across the street and into the newly opened Georgetown Cupcakes. No longer would I have to take the nearly 4 hour train ride to DC to enjoy these delicious cupcakes (YAY!).
After a long day of walking, and a pretty extensive nap, we then made our way down to Chelsea to try out Cookshop, a simple dinner place with a very homey feel. Here they found ways to incorporate surprising ingredients and touches to very familiar dishes. As my main course, I tried the fish & chips, which was unexpectedly light and fresh for fried food. A welcome change.
As a whole we made some delicious discoveries and I can't wait for another weekend of adventures...
